I'm looking into how latin american/spanish religion differs from UK views (broadly, not going into catholic versus christian views or anything).

I heard that the spanish / latin american people view the virgin mary as a saint, and in some ways revere her more then jesus christ. Any info on this? What do they think of her specifically? Do they still view jesus the same way, or is the Virgin Mary the main focus? Is it right they call her "Santa Maria"?

Anything else note worthy in the spanish/latin american beliefs?

Thank you so much for the effort.

Native Mexican-spanish please. These are words and phrases that would help someone learning spanish assimilate into the young Mexican culture.

It seems like everyone always says that all countries in south america except Brasil (which speaks portuguese) speak spanish. Sometimes they don't even mention the Brazil part.

Why don't people know anything? (Not to sound mean or anythinggg....)

Because the last time I checked Guyana speaks English, French Guiana speaks French, and Suriname speaks Dutch.
Okay, you're right. I don't mean every single person, but I mean most.

And I don't mean people saying it as a generalization, because I'm talking about my teacher who says "Every country in South America speaks Spanish except Brazil" and puts it on a test.

As in a store that sells "little cakes," not a "little store" with cakes in it. Please don't refer me to online translators. They don't understand. T-H-A-N-K-S!!

When travelling in Mexico back in 2005 I kept seeing a music video on TV for a very catchy pop song. In the video a guy is in a wheelchair in a hospital and there are dancing nurses.

Does anyone know what the song is? it's driving me crazy!

Hello,
I am searching for a method(s) to learn Spanish (Latin-American). I have become very interested in the language and culture.
The majority of web sites I have visited are not very thorough or do not offer an extensive amount of material.
I have recently become aquainted with several Hispanic people at my place of employment. I would love to have the ability to converse with them in their native language.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you....

I am tryign to speak english at home but my parents and relatives say we must speak spanish. I tell them that we are in america and that we need to learn the language but they just laugh and say no. My brothers and sisters don't speak good english becuase of my lazy parents. I know americans are tired of us being lazy for not learning the langauge, how can I help?

I say about 10%, my sister says 25%. What do you think?

I'm listening to a Spanish audio course and sometimes the same word that contains 'v' is pronounced differently - 'v' or 'b'.
For example: Vamos is pronounces both [Bamos] and [Vamos]

I'm more interested in knowing how it is properly pronounced in regular Spanish and in Mexican Spanish.

Thanks in advance...

They speak spanish now, but what about before their language was wiped out? Or am I wrong?

I've never studied Spanish officially, but I think if I did that I would like European Spanish better. If I learned to speak Spanish like it's spoken in Spain, would I have any trouble being understood by Spanish speakers in the Americas?

What's the main difference bw latin american spanish and european spanish?
