The most important point I'd like to make is the different word and verb form used for the pronoun YOU in the plural. Spain uses Vosotros and in Latin America Ustedes is the form used. I purchased several books, including "1001 Spanish Verbs Conjugated", A Spanish English dictionary, A book designed to be a textbook in a beginning Spanish class, and a Libro de sinominos (like a Thesaurus). However the MOST important tools I had were the daily contact with native speakers, AND fearlesness. You must try to say things and not be afraid when you get them wrong. You WILL get them wrong, but that's how to learn. Also try http://world.altavista.com/ (Babel Fish) for some pretty decent translations.
