If you are in the US, he/they should know English. If you are in Mexico, your lack of Spanish is a greater problem than talking to your boyfriend.
GOOD LUCK
Get the free program at Before You Know It’s website and start learning Spanish. If you have the money, you could get the Rosetta Stone course, but it is expensive. Look online to start learning Spanish. Tell your boyfriend you want to learn. You are lucky – you have a built-in teacher and someone to practice with! Just take the first step to learning their language. They will greatly appreciate it!!!
Also, see if any of them are interested in learning English. Maybe you, your boyfriend and them can get together to have lessons. You try to teach them English (with your bf’s help) and they can try to teach you Spanish (with his help).
Good luck!
tell him first that you don´t feel good about it and for him to help you by translating for you when they´re talking spanish. He SHOULD do it until you have the time to learn his language and feel more comfortable-if not find somebody that you "understand" and he "understands" you
Either have your boyfriend translate some words for you. Or have him teach you to speak some spanish, Or buy and englishh/spanish dictionary. You could also try to take some classes that would most likely help you learn spanish
1.) Learn Spanish
2.) Your bf family learns english
The language of love is universal!
Learn a few necessary phrases and you’ll be fine.
Such as "I want to make babies with your son and if you have a problem with that you can go back to Mexico!"
xx
here are some simple spanish conversation starters:
Hola!- hello
como estas? how are you
encantada-good and you
me llamo (yamo pronounced) Kaitlyn- my name is kaitlyn
que hora es? what time is it
soy buena – i am good
hope this helps with starting some convo, have ur man teach you some phrases so you can get familar!
Being able to communicate with your boyfriend is the most important thing. If you really want to communicate with his family better, take Spanish course. Even if you don’t have the time to go to a class, you a take an online or correspondence course. Get a Spanish-English dictionary and practice with your boyfriend and his family. I’m sure they’ll be happy to help you.
What is the question??
Well, there is only one solution, learn it. There is not other way around it if you want to understand what they are saying
if you always date mexicans, u should a lil spanish. u wanna know wat they r sayin. cause if u dont understand them, u might git 2 feelin uncomfortable around them.
You should learn to speak Spanish. Your boyfriend speaks English to your family so it would be fair if you do the same.
well your choices are 1) learn spanish or 2) ask him to speak english to them.
Now is a good time to start learning. From now on, try talking to your bf in spanish.
If you’re an American speak English. It is our national language, not Spanish.
Ask him to translate for you. Or start by learning basic Spanish phrases to help you understand a little bit better.
ok, so how did you start dating him?
surely theres a common connection…
You only have a couple of choices – either stop worrying about it and accept it for what it is or ask him to teach you some of the phrases so that you will at least be able to pick up some of what is being said. Take some classes at your local high school at night or at the college, or just ask your boyfriend to teach you for like a 1/2 each night. Good luck and God Bless.
Sounds like a serious compatability issue. If he speaks English, then what’s the problem?
Have you tried asking your boyfriend for help? That’d be a good starting point. Also consider taking spanish language classes.
Well, option 1. of course is to learn spanish. Ask him to teach you. Get some tapes, take a class. Watch spanish TV. If you surround yourself with it it will sink in.
If you want to understand them, then learn Spanish. I’m not too clear what you’re asking here.
learn spanish..
Honey, learn Spanish. My husband had to learn Spanish as he spoke English and Tagalog when we met. Believe me, you’ll have more fun if you learn. Our families are funny and loving and we don’t ridicule those trying to learn our language, we embrace them, something the English speakers should try doing more often.
