I feel that its really important that I learn to speak spanish.Statistics show that the number of people from Spanish speaking countries coming to the U.S. is rising.I can see it where I live.

as long as you open your mind and body to learn Spanish it will not take you for ever. but the best tip is to have an open mind and make Spanish speaking friends if you can so that you will be able to practice your learning s with them and they will also help you learn more.

It depends on how much natural aptitude for language you have, and how hard you work at it.

Why would you want to ? America is an English speaking nation. And this is coming from someone of Hispanic descent.

Depends on several factors. However, these are sure to speed things up
1. Get a tutor (its free at most comm colleges)
2. Talk to your teacher during office hours
3. Join a spanish club
4. Open your mind to different cultures. Befriend people whose native language is spanish
5. Take each day at a time. Remember, just focus on HOW to achieve the goal NOT the goal itself
