i’m a spanish speaker, i’m from spain so i speak european spanish, i think you should learn european-spanish because it’s easier if you want to be understood and to understand both kinds of spanish.
hope it helps!
if you have any other problem or something just contact me.
The two varieties of Spanish ARE different, but not drastically so; they differ far less, for example, than UK and US English,or Brazilian and European Portuguese. I learnt Iberian Spanish at school and University but when I travel in South America I have no difficulty at all in understanding or being understood. Similarly, if you follow a course in Latin American Spanish, you will have no difficulty in communicating in Spain.
It also depends, in any case, where your friends are from. If you do a course that teaches – say- Colombian or Chilean Spanish, it will differ as much, if not more, from Argentinean Spanish as Iberian Spanish
They are very different accents, just by hearing it, (a spanish speaker) may determine where that person comes from. The British English is way different in many ways than the USA one. Now it just depends on u. I speak mexican spanish, but a nice one, not the ranchero. Ill reccomend u the Spanish from Spain, or the Mexican, cuz the rest sound really weird. The argentine is the worse… I dont understand what they say!
But if ur friend is from South America, perhaps u should try the colombian or argentine accent. So u 2 speak and understand each other easily…
Take the Spanish from Spain. That is the real Spanish language
