After i finish Italian, i would like to learn another language, out of interest and because it would look good on my resume. I now speak Dutch, German, English, French, Latin and Italian and i'd like to learn Spanish next. But they gave 2 options, European or Latin-American.
What are the big differences? Are they real big? Will i be able to understand the one if i speak the other and will other people? Which would you choose and why?
Sorry i forgot to say i know Japanese too. But i'm really not interested in Chinese or Arab. As i said i also learn languages out of interest, for the cultures and books and really, for me, Europe's renaissance and that literature are my interest. I learned Japanese when i still did martial arts such as jui-jitsu.
I know they are two different countries. Spain conquered Mexico in 1561 or something and Spain is Europe and Mexican culture is American. But, like is there a difference in the foods, culture, people, dialects of language, and traditions?
I know in Mexican Culture, there's the evil eye and quinceaneras? What about Spanish?
i wonder this because people in Europe who speak spanish do it with spanish accent
It doesn't matter where they are from, they (not including hispanic americans) always ask them if they are mexican or what part of Mexico they're from. Now, if they tell them first " I'm from-------" some of them will actually say: So, what part of Mexico is that at? Or Do you speak puerto rican, mexican, etc.?
Now remember, this also includes Americans stationed or living abroad in Europe. Some visit Spain are kinda shocked that spanish is spoken their. And still they ask hispanics there if they are Mexican.
I'm going to be in the IB program starting next year, and need 4 years of the same language. I know that more people speak Spanish, but what about in Europe? I'm not very interested in going to South America. I plan on going to Europe to countries like Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands...western countries. Which of the two languages is more used there?
I'm thinking the Spain dialect would be more for Europe. Am I right?
History of the Southwest:
12000-15000 years occupation by migrants from Asia & also
Europe.
50-100 years partial occupation by Spanish with natives.
30 years indirect control by Mexicans, many natives dead from diseases & conflict.
160 years occupation by Americans.
In Europe, Spanish is absolutely in a stronger position than Portuguese. In USA, the most popular foreign language is latin-american Spanish, especially Mexican style, because there're a lot of Mexico immigrants in USA. & In latin-america, people speak latin-american Spanish, it mainly includes Mexican, Argentine, Chilian style, & In Brazil, people speak Brazilian Portuguese, which sounds softer & more nasal than Spanish, & it shows some similarities to that of French. Brazil's been working to develop its economy and resolve societal problems, Brazil is the largest and most populous country in South America, the fifth largest country by geographical area, & its population comprises the majority of the world's Portuguese speakers. Brazil is the largest national economy in Latin America, the world's tenth largest economy at market exchange rates & the ninth largest in purchasing power parity. If you had to choose between Brazilian Portuguese & Spanish, which would you prefer to learn?
If they reside in the United States then they most likely speak three languages. English, Spanish and Nahuatl. Most Mexicans don't know that when they speak Spanish they are actually using a lot of vocabulary from the so called Aztec language. As many of you may know. Mexicans are basically a combination of the l Aztec Warrior and the Imperialist Spaniard from Europe. They use a lot of words from the Nahuatl language and dont even realize it. Mexicans speak a hybrid of the Nahuatl language and Spanish. Now three with English haha.
i want to learn spanish, im from europe but the main reason i want to learn it is because im travelling to mexico and south america. Ive heard the spanish is different - just wondering how much and would i have to re-learn it if i went to spain?
The 2 great audio methods I might buy, only teach LATIN AMERICAN Spanish... and I'm from europe.
Will I be able to talk to people in Spain and understand each other ok?
