I've noticed a lot of Mexican-Americans (either born and raised in the US or came to the US as a baby) are damn good at Spanish and can downright switch from an American accent in English to a Mexican accent in Spanish. But do they ever get so good they can fake out real Mexicans?

Example: A person born in East Los Angeles, CA, lives there for the first 20 years of their life, yet never has learned to speak with a Mexican accent, like their family, friends and neighbors do.

is the mexican accent different than the spanish accent in spain after spanish colonists lost mexico and the spanish still there?

Does anyone recommend some movies where girls/women speak english with a heavy mexican accent????

Thanks for your help!

I'm calling my best friend over the telephone tomorrow, and i don't want to sound stupid considering her whole family doesn't understand English. I can speak with a Mexican accent, infact they say i sound hispanic most of the time even thought i'm white and can only understand and barely speak spanish. I need to know the correct wording in Spanish for the phrase " Hello may i speak to..." I'm calling a girl, if that makes the difference in the vocabulary.

I was at a party, making small-chat with a girl from Venezuela, and she said that she can understand most Spanish accents but can't understand a thick Mexican accent?

What is a Mexican accent anyway, and what makes it so different from, say, a Colombian accent that others don't understand it?

My character is supposed to be speaking English with a Mexican accent. Can someone please list some of the definitive characteristics of this accent? For example, the way certain vowels are pronounced, etc. I've had a few years of Spanish, but trying to transfer the accent to English is very difficult for me.

if you want to learn spanish or if you speak spanish which accent would you like??? mexican accent or spain accent?

1. How many major dialects are there in Mexican Spanish?

2. Is there such thing as "Standard Mexican" or "Neutral Mexican accent"? If there is, which area(estado) speaks the neutral/general Spanish?

3. Is Mexican accent totally different from Guatemalan accent(Mexico's neighbor) and Cuban accent?

Since I am going to be in Portugal for a week with family, we have decided that we will be taking a trip to Madrid for a week or so. I'm American, so when my best friend taught me Spanish back in middle school, she taught me to pronounce things with a Mexican accent. So, I was wondering if in Spain, if they heard that I spoke my Spanish with a Mexican accent, would I be looked down upon or treated differently? Thank you so much, I'm looking forward to my trip! =)

are there any sites or anything that can teach me to speak english in a mexican accent? i really want to learn because its so funny.

I speak both english and spanish (native language) fluently and with their correct accents and everything...but whenever I try to speak a different language (like french) I have more of a mexican accent and not english accent. Why is that?
