I’m beginning to think my friends made it up. Please help, this word is plaguing me.
I don’t mean to be offensive by saying Mexican Spanish. It’s just that my Columbian, Puerto Rican, Peruvian, and Spanish friends have never heard the word, but it was explained to me as a word used in Mexico. Different countries [...]

President Felipe Calderon, today blasted our deportations and said "Mexico does not end at its borders." And speaking to Mexicans in the US many of them here illegally he told them "Where there is a Mexican, there is Mexico."
That sounds pretty imperialistic to me. What would happen if we sent millions of Americans to [...]

Spanish is my second language, but I’m pretty much fluent since I used to live in Chile…the thing is, I understand Spanish when Mexicans from Mexico speak it, but for some reason it’s difficult for me to understand Mexican American’s when they speak Spanish.
This is stupid, but I’m serious…I’m wondering why this might be.
Thanks ^^

If our nation becomes unsettled because of inner turmoil, will this makes us vulnerable to countries who would like to invade or destroy us? Is that why illegals are pouring in like water over Niagra? Is that why 30 % of illegals are other than Mexican? Is this about letting Mexico be [...]

Many people say that the difference between the 2 types is the same as the difference between US and UK English, yet if, for example, you compare the Spain Yahoo Answers page, with a Latin American one, Mexico, for example, it’s clear to see, even if you don’t speak any Spanish that things have been [...]

Hi,
This boils down to 5 key questions for me:
1] When and how did conquering Spaniards in indigenously-populated Mexico become "Mexicans?"
2] When did Spanish control of New Spain/Mexico cede to and come under Mexican control?
3] Was this (#2 above) when Mexico became a formal Mexican nation—and no longer a colony of Spain?
4] [...]

I’m copyediting the Closed Captioning of a math video, to wit, the Spanish-translated text for a math video.
The translator wrote "computador" (without the "a" at the end), but the dictionary shows "ordenador"–which is used mainly in Spain, I think.
However, the video makers are catering to the Spanish-speaking students of the US and Caribbean. They [...]

Here in California I have noticed that most Mexican Americans refer to other Mexicans as "Spanish". Why? Just speaking Spanish doesn’t make one Spanish. Being from Spain makes one Spanish. I speak English, but I’m not from England so I’m not English. I almost get the feeling that Mexicans here in California regard the word [...]

I would like to learn the Spanish/ Castilian of Buenos Aires, Argentina, although, for many reasons, the Spanish of Mexico would be good to learn, too.
