funny, isn't it?? Mexicans never had their own language, they speak Spanish, but sometimes my friends see some Latinos talking to each other in Spanish and then they whisper "listen, isn't it Mexican? It sounds like they speak Mexican. They look like they are Mexican." And I was like "Is Mexican a language???"

my other question is why do some people think all Spaniards speak Spanish?
I have no idea. Once me and a friend were talking with a tourist and at the end we asked him "were are you from?" he said he was from Spain, and my friend automatically said "oh, we study Spanish at school" yes we do but not all Spaniards speak Spanish,...my friend tried to say some words but the man didn't understand anyways because he speaks Gallego "I speak Gallego, not Spanish".

I'm trying to get into learning Spanish and have come to a bit of a crossroads. For many products for language learning, there's two forms of Spanish. Latin American and Spain. What exactly are the differences? Like Rosetta Stone for instance. I can get Latin American, or Spain.

Is the difference just with pronunciation? If I were to learn Latin American Spanish, would I be able to go speak and read in Spain without any problems? I'm more interested in Spain, but I'm really curious as to what the differences are and if the differences are big enough to cause problems?

in my third year of my uni course (french and spanish) i take a year abroad, 6 months for each language. i am familiar with france and spain already and would like to take the oppurtunity to go further afield maybe south america but im a bit stuck for french though...the carribbean? is the french different there? any recommended countries/cities?

When in comes to verb conjugations in Latin-American Spanish, I'm not sure if I have to learn the "vosotros" forms because I read that it is mainly used in Spain. Do I still have to learn the vosotros forms for verb conjugations?

Brazilians are latino and they speak portuguese, and people from Spain speak spanish, and their European. And dint tell me they're latino, because if they were, that would make people from France, Portugal, and Italy latinos too!

Since I am going to be in Portugal for a week with family, we have decided that we will be taking a trip to Madrid for a week or so. I'm American, so when my best friend taught me Spanish back in middle school, she taught me to pronounce things with a Mexican accent. So, I was wondering if in Spain, if they heard that I spoke my Spanish with a Mexican accent, would I be looked down upon or treated differently?
