I am clueless when it comes to the spanish language. Where can I learn to read, write and speak spanish?

Why do people say Puerto Ricans speak a "Ghetto Spanish" compared to Mexicans?
I hear people say that Puerto Ricans and many other Island Countries in the Caribbean speak the Spanish language in a "Ghetto" way as opposed to Mexicans who speak Spanish in a Clear and understandable way.

Can someone explain why people say this?

Is it because the Spanish demanded that the Native Americans speak the Spanish language? Or was the language voluntarily adopted?
I know that the Europeans "implanted" their languages, but I wasn't sure whether or not the natives were allowed to speak their own languages. None of the history books that I have come across have mentioned anything of the sort.

I saw it on UK TV its a board game that teaches you the basics of the spanish language but I cant remember what its called.

I have a real problem and im pretty sure alot of other people might have it to. I agree with having rights here that is why we live in this country. But how can people come to this country and not even try to learn english. Im not just tlaking about latinos im talking about all immigrants. Whether it be polish or mexican or russian. I walked into a store in Chicago recently and couldnt find an address. I asked for help and nobody spoke english everybody just spole polish and it drove me crazy. They all looked at me like I was crazy and didnt belong there.
You can live a decent life functioning here in the States unless you learn the language.
My mother come from Mexico legally and struggled to learn english because she knew she had to in order to be successful.
Like Governer Schwarenegger said, and i totally agree. If you want to learn english you have to turn off the spanish language channels.
Input please?
For you viva la raza people, i am not segregating just the latinos so shove that La Raza Cochinada where the sun dont shine. Of course im not tlaking about people that just got here either. Dont be stupid im not expecting them to learn over night. DUH. Im talking about people who come here and live here and dont even try to learn and belevie they dont have to. My grandmother was like this.
If you love La Raza so much help our own people to get better and become more successful. And not live in ignorance and poverty. You cannot be a success in this country without learning english.
and the chick with the name
Mexicans are the best
is a troll.

Essentially _ ia m a Photographer?artist who has travelled extensively througout various parts of mexico and realize that i want to do a photo project/ book where i travel across a picked selection of its cities and put together beautiful images and photography and interviews for a book on the people and country of mexico--i am wanting to know how i could possibly contact the embassy to get funding for sucha project and what is the best way to go about it. I feel in the end that my project could be used to help the mexican tourist industry as well as relations between america and mexico in gerneral- I am an american artist photographer/writer who speaks and writes in the spanish language . My travels there have taught me that it is one of the places in my life where beauty makes sense to me.

There is a Mexican girl in my class and we got into an argument about variants of the Spanish language. She says that Mexican Spanish isn't Spanish and that if a Mexican goes to Spain that the Spaniard and the Mexican won't understand each other. I understand that pronunciation is a little bit different, and I also know that Mexican Spanish has indigenous pre-Spanish Mexican words added to it, but I know it's not a completely different language.

I guess that it is my job. ( both parents job )

Spanish Language in the World? you cant really make it out, I would say the best English spoken language is Spoken by Americans, and the best spoken language is Spoken by Mexicans, when I say best I mean it being more understandable and clearer and cleaner.

Answer= Because America is not England. Spanish Language is the second most spoken in America. ( USA ).

I will vote for that candidate who speak better Spanish, for the most fluent Spanish Speaking American Presidential candidate .
Mexican-American & Democrat, A -Plus.

Im 13 and very interested in the Spanish language, I can speak some of the basics but I really want to be fluent.

Latin America, Spain, and Mexico all have different spin offs of the Spanish language correct? So how would you say 'I miss you' in a Mexican dialect? Or is that phrase the same in all areas? If so please still write out the translation. Thanks!

Can somebody please give me a somewhat brief and short list of careers/jobs/occupations that requires knowledge of the spanish language or the ability to speak this language.

Tnx

My son is 18 months old and we are raising him speaking both Spanish and English. We have some good stories in Spanish for infants (e.g., Buenas Noches Gorilla, Buenas Noches Luna) but would like to start reading him stories more appropriate for toddlers. We can find a few English language stories that are translated into Spanish, but would also like some authentic Spanish language stories.

I'm a writer and I have a decent enough grasp of the Spanish language (I'm not fluent, but I can read a lot of it) from study and teaching myself and studying Latin for the past three years, but I want to be fluent in both Latin American and Castilian Spanish, though, no matter how long that I've been studying, I've been unable to find an accurate, simple description of Latin American versus Castilian Spanish. Are they similar, just with different slang, such as British versus American English?

I know that one comes from Spain while the other is from Latin American countries (hence the term, "Latin American" Spanish), but what I really am not getting is the difference between their grammar and vocabulary. Is there any?

And anyone who speaks Latin American Spanish, can you understand what someone from Spain is saying, or vice versa? Some people say that you can and others say that you can't. I personally haven't personally been able to understand all Latin American Spanish, but that's because I'm not quite fluent yet and don't speak it enough, mostly writing.

I speak some Spanish (Castilian) but want to start studying Latin American Spanish because I'm setting more of my stories in a Latin American culture as opposed to Spanish or New Mexican and want to have an idea of what I need to study. Is it universal? Or will I need to get a Latin American Spanish dictionary? And how long does it take for one to learn Latin American Spanish after studying Castilian for a little over two years?

Thanks in advance! :D

I would like to learn Spanish Spanish not Latin American Spanish. I know that Rosetta Stone has it and it’s widely advertised everywhere but is it really that good? And of course if I Google Spanish learning software, search results are in the order of what software company paid to be on the top of the Google search. Same thing with reviews – Can’t tell if they are real or fake. . Also, if anybody can suggest good free websites for Spanish language, grammar & tips and any good books for Spanish grammar.

Thank You! ☺

Sorry, I mean the Spanish Language.
I am trying to figure out which one to learn. Which one should I pick?

I'm planning on taking Spanish all through high school. I want to be able to speak it fluently. Will I need to do more than take it in high school? I'd also like to know how different the Spanish language from Spain is from the Spanish language in Latin America, such as Mexico. Is there a big difference? Will that be a problem?

I heard that Mexican Spanish is different from the original Spanish Language in Spain. In what way?
