Dear,
I am an old man and I guess it has been more than 40 years for me that I begun with Spanish.Usually the order of ease of learning is; writing, speaking, reading and understanding the spoken language. The reason is you write what you know and speak what you know. With writing you can take lots of time and also use dictionaries and grammars.I found it easiest to use picture-word books. They are cheap and very useful.I do a lot of reading and writing. Also I attend a Spanish church.
Believe it or not the Sp.Bible is an exellent textbook for learning Spanish. It takes an awfull lot of time to learn any language and never give up. Dios le bendiga cada dia y cada noche.
Best way is practice. Find a spanish speaking friend, better one that is a native spanish speaker, that can correct you while in long conversations.
