Because it’s America. In America, we speak English. I think a lot of the 1st generation need to learn how to speak it too.
Same reason German and Italians can’t speak their native tongue either. They assimilated into American society which speaks english.
Because their parents aren’t speaking to them in Spanish. This is a byproduct of assimilation and it happens to lots of immigrant groups, though less often with Latinos than with European and Asians because we shae the same hemisphere, and it’s easier for people to travel to their native countries.
