Well, for one, people from Brazil are not even Spanish, they speak Portuguese and their ancestors were from Portugal. That would be like me listening to a French Canadian speaking French, and assuming they were American. Other South American countries have distinct cultures. I don’t think it is prejudice against Mexicans; people just don’t like being misidentified.

I’m American, but I don’t get offended if someone thinks I’m Russian (which has happened). I wish I could move to Europe. I don’t blame anyone for coming here from another country either. I’m proud to be American, but not for the same reasons some people are. We have slave-owners on our currency. I don’t like country music, especially pop stuff. I’m not having kids or eating apple pie, or going to church. I guess I admit I love basketball and used to go ape shit over Christmas. Really though if you go back to classics, the music, the comedians, we had the best. The ironic thing is, as much racial tension there can be in the U.S. the only reason it’s great is because of the combo. We don’t grow up learning enough about other cultures. Racism is inherited. I love you all. aww group hug. Nah but you get the friggin point.

Also Countries In South America R Diffrent From All Spanish-Speaking Countrie Because We Have Diffrent Types Of Spanish Just Like In England They Talk With A British Accent While Here U Have The Normal American Talk! I’m Colombian, I’ve been called Mexican before by many people. The only people who can tell I’m Colombian know because they are Hispanic and know how we look (and mostly) how we speak. They say: “You have the dark features…but don’t look Mexican…say something in Spanish…*I say something* OMG YOU’RE COLOMBIAN RIGHT???” Colombia is known for its “best spanish” from Bogota, the Paisa accent, and Caleno accent (mine). But unfortunately Americans can’t tell apart “Guey” and “Parce”. When someone calls me Mexican, I do get offended (not because I have anything against them) but because immediately in their head I’m an illegal immigrant, dirty, and my parents mow lawns or work at Home Depot and I live with my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc (not that they do). But Colombia, Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela, Argentina, etc. ALL have a very different culture, food, and way of speaking spanish. Mexico’s spanish is thought of as “peasant” spanish. Dominican and Puerto Rican because 1) They don’t say many consonants, switch the R with an L, and speak as fast as the advertising people on TV and radio. Or 2)They don’t speak it at all except for each other’s last names. Mexican food is thought to be like Taco Bell (their menu is much more extensive and they have delicious food), Caribbean (DR, PR, Venezuela, Colombia) is fish and plantains, Brazilian food is just way to delicious to say. Our music varies from country (and within the country, thru regions). In some parts of Mexico, they listen to Durango. In Dominican Republic, Bachata. In Colombia (Ecuador and Venezuela too), Salsa, Vallenato, and Cumbia. In Puerto Rico, Salsa and Reggaeton. In Cuba, Salsa. BTW I’m not being racist, my friends are from all over Latin America, I’m just explaining what people actually say, what I know, and what I’ve been told. I guess it’s just pride and nationalism and VERY different culture.

Because most of U.S. people (i’m not saying americans becouse America is the continent, so i’m a non U.S american.) think that
every spanish speaker is instantly mexican. it´s all about ignorance.

Yeah I feel bad too, that mexicans are hated and considered the worst trash, Yeah I can understand thre are some bad mexicans that swear and do stuffm but its sad. REALLY WISH MEXICANS CAN CHANGE TO BE BETTER ABD LESS HOW THEY ARE NOW SO THEY CAN BE RESPECTED!

I feel very bad that everybody hates mexicans, I mean yeah I know mexicans swear alot and seem to be bad but not all are like that, I just wish that all latin america will unite together with mexico, never going to happend
