Why are there so many 2nd generation Mexican-Americans who cannot speak more than two words of Spanish?

  1. Because their parents aren’t speaking to them in Spanish. This is a byproduct of assimilation and it happens to lots of immigrant groups, though less often with Latinos than with European and Asians because we shae the same hemisphere, and it’s easier for people to travel to their native countries.
