Why do Some Latin American countries hate the Spanish?

Some latin american countries seem to hate the Spanish (and argentinians but that’s another topic) why? If it wasn’t for the Spanish they wouldn’t have their kind of lifestyle, culture and language. Their culture is very similar to that of Spain’s (Ciesta, late dinner, the three kings ect) I don’t understand. Yes, the spanish slaughtered the natives of South america, however if they hadn’t, the majority of the populous of South America wouldn’t be here! Their culture which they may be proud of wouldn’t be there without the spaniards.
@Dart I made a few grammatical errors. I don’t see what you’re trying to prove?

  1. The same reason some American have contempt for the British: they (the British and the Spanish) were the "oppressors" and tradition dies hard.

A similar example: how Catholicism is viewed in the Southern United States. Many people are suspicious of it because it is viewed as a "foreign" religion. Why? Because the people who founded the thirteen colonies thought so, and because the people that preceded those founders (Henry VIII, Elizabeth I, Cranmer, etc.) said so.

  2. "Their culture which they may be proud of wouldn’t be there without the spaniards."

That exact entitlement and arrogance is why Hispanos Americanos hate Spain. Stuck up sangrones…

  3. Some Latin Americans dislike Spaniards because they are (not everyone) very racist and scornful towards darker skinned folk.

It has nothing to do with culture, language or lifestyle. I think they are very much appreciative of this.

  4. "If it wasn’t for the Spanish they wouldn’t have their kind of lifestyle, culture and language." Exactly. You have answered your own question.

    "Ciesta,"???? You mean SIESTA?

    What is an ect????

Populous is an ADJECTIVE, you have used it as a noun.

They "may" be proud of their culture…but apparently, they are NOT. (at least the people of whom you speak…that, of course, is not everyone)

In fact, Spaniards have been extremely condescending (in some instances) towards those from the Americas.
